Welcome
Welcome to the GBL forum & online shop. I'm pleased you have found your way to this helpful customer friendly forum.

Over the coming weeks I will be adding lots of information and products to the shop forums.

The GBL online shop is unique all the products that will be featured on this online shop will be current stock, now that doesn't sound anything different from other online cue shops that you find on the net...... until I tell you that the detailed pictures and full specifications will be of the actual cue that is for sale, no brochure picture showing a cue butt design and general spec's !!

The forums will give you the chance to communicate with me and fellow GBL forum members, any questions or problems that you have please feel free post them in current or new forum if required, any questions will be answered and dealt with in a honest and open manner. In time many regularly asked questions and answers will be easily found in our forum data base.

GENERAL CUE CARE :

A few things to look out for Wink

Always make sure you keep your cue in a good quality case , don't leave your cue leaning against a wall over a long period of time, never put your cue near a heat source, this can cause all sorts of problems, don't leave it in cold or damp places, quick temperature and humidity changes are a nightmare combination for wood to stand.

When playing if the cue becomes sticky, wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth and buff dry immediately. Never sandpaper the cue, this removes any protective sealer on the shaft leaving bare wood and also gradually wears away the cue shaft.

Occasionally (3-6 months depending on the amount you play) treat the cue with raw linseed oil. Wipe the cue down with a damp cloth and dry. ( don't wipe the cue down with a very wet cloth this can cause the shaft to swell )
Apply the oil to the cue using a dry cloth or paper towel, don't put to much on the shaft, a smearing will do, you can always do it again if needed, leave to dry, buff cue with a clean cloth until smooth and dry, then wipe with a slightly damp cloth and buff straight after with a dry cloth.

( Finishing pads are great for keeping a cue smooth, contact me
for more info about these )

Re-tipping your cue :

1 . Cut off old tip with a stanley knife ( be careful )
2 . Clean off old glue and remains of old tip. ( scrape with blade , or use the EDGE of a small file going in just 1 direction works best, never the flat of the file to flatten the top of the cue)
3 . Make sure top of cue and ferrule are level.
4 . level the bottom of the tip with the edge of a small file , or use sand paper putting on a level surface holding tip between thumb and forefinger.
5 . Apply glue to top of cue. ( super-glue gel is best if in a hurry, I sell some very good glue in the shop £3 a bottle )
6 . Place tip on glue and center up. Press down hard for about 5-10 seconds then wipe away excess glue ( leave the cue for about 5 mins before cutting )
7 . Turn cue upside down on cutting board and trim off excess tip to size of ferrule.
8 . Then use a flat file or sanding pads to shape the tip to a dome , filing from centre of tip to outside edge.
9 . Once the tip is near to complete use very smooth sandpaper ( 1000 grit wet and dry is good ) to smooth the rough sides of the tip and neaten the dome, making sure you don't scuff the ferrule.
